Hello Class & Professor,
This is a great topic to talk about! When people have a positive attitude and exude positive energy, they benefit in many ways (Hagood, 2015) This is a true statement from our reading this week. It’s important that the energy we extend in the world is positive and not negative. In the workforce we always want to improve communication because without proper communication it leads to low morale. Communication is the key to success in the workforce and a team can’t properly function without strong communication. Mistrust and misunderstandings are often exhibited when communication isn’t executed the right way.
Here are a few ways to improve communication in a world that can sometimes be fraught with unreasonable work expectations and/or pressure due to the nature of our work? There is a huge responsibility for management to reduce pressure at work and improve communication in the workplace. A way to improve communication is to listen effectively and to respond with support and not humility. With expectations and pressure being at an all time high in many situations in the workplace it’s important to create a positive interaction and furthermore an upbeat work environment. If tension is high at the workplace here are ways to decrease the tension, having scavenger hunts, charades, and crossword puzzles. Having such ice breakers or known as tension relievers helps the team grow and connect in ways they need improvement. Communication connects all people in the workforce, and when employees are directly involved in work products initiatives it helps build a strong sense of ownership in the company’s future. It’s important to remember that better communication results in greater employee engagement. In a business and a healthy working environment helps employees flourish and grow. But without communication and support in the work environment there will be a lot of stressors and confusion. Getting to know your colleagues and management team is essential, there may be similar interests that each person can relate to. Trust is the foundation for a solid working relationship and communication is a crucial key.
Have a good week everyone,
Disa

To improve communication with other people at work when there is often unreasonable work expectations or pressure you can be consistent and constant. The article called “13 ways to fix poor communication in the workplace” explains that if communication is through all different channels. For example, communication with coworkers can be via text messages, emails, in person talking, post-it notes, phone calls, MS teams chat, and meetings if it’s too much then it may get too confusing and overwhelming. It is best to communicate consistently and constantly using the same channel if possible. This helps employees to know where to get information from and know what to check on an hourly or daily basis. It also helps to not forget to do a certain task if all communication is done usually only a couple of channels.
Another good tip that this article had was about collaboration in the cloud and making internal documents easy to access. The Power DMS website writers reiterate that using clouds are a good place to store information and I agree with them as long as there is a backup version somewhere, just in case. To better communication and help keep people accountable you can save internal documents in a place where everyone can get to that way you can just check on something yourself instead of having to ask them all the time. It is good to ask coworkers for clarification if needed, but to save time you can just check yourself if you have access to the document in question.
