The results of my Myers Briggs Personality Type Test revealed that my personality type is an ENFP. This acronym stands forextraverted, intuitive, feeling, and perceiving. People who inherit this type of personality are described as enthusiastic, charismatic, and creative. Only an estimated 5-7% of those who take this test receive this result (Cherry, 2021). Upon further research into my personality type, I found that it was actually extremely accurate. Strengths include an abundance of enthusiasm, warm, empathetic, strong people and communication skills, spontaneous, and highly creative. The weaknesses that come with this personality type are constantly seeking approval from others, disorganized, stressed out easily, overly emotional, overthinking, and difficulty obeying rules. I relate to the weaknesses the most. The cognitive functions as an ENFP are Dominant: Extraverted Intuition. This pertains to how those with this personality type tend to always be thinking ahead about the future. Auxiliary: Introverted Feeling. When making decisions, ENFPs place a greater value on feelings and following their heart, rather than on logic. Typically the emotions guide their decision-making process. Tertiary: Extraverted Thinking. This means we tend to think out loud and visually. Inferior: Introverted Sensing. This cognitive function means we are constantly looking for the correlation between the present and experiences we had in the past. This allows the individual to seek patterns and form expectations for future events based upon their previous experiences (Cherry, 2021). I am amazed and very taken back how accurate all of this is. Fun fact: Dr. Suess was also an ENFP!

- Go to the following link and take the Emotional Intelligence (EI) test associated with EI author Daniel Goleman. Discuss your results. https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/ei-quiz.htm
I scored a 37 on the emotional intelligence test. That falls under the category of “Ok”. It says that I probably have good relationships with some of my colleagues, but others may be more difficult to work with. I find these results very interesting. I honestly think if I were to retake this test at a different time of day, my results would differ. It is currently 10 pm and I am not in the best mood considering I am exhausted and my daughter is sick. When I am in a better head space, I would definitely retake this and see if my results change at all. But even if they don’t, that is fine because I now know what I can improve on.
- How would you describe your own leadership style according to The Leadership Grid? What evidence can you give for choosing this style as the best representation of your leadership behavior?
According to the Leadership Grid and upon partaking in a self-assessment questionnaire, I fall into the category of a country club leader. This actually makes perfect sense because it is extremely hard for me to confront those in the wrong, in fear of ruining relationships with them. In the work environment, I tend to be a people pleaser, and do my best to stay in everyone’s good graces. This is something I have been trying to work on because constructive criticism is extremely important and a crucial factor to the overall success of colleagues. I am quite surprised as to how my Emotional Intelligence (EI) test results and The Leadership Grid results contradict each other. I really enjoyed partaking in every self-analysis. It was able to provide me with an in depth, close look at my personality and demeanor. From this day forward, and when future situations arise, I will be mindful of all of these results.

CLASSROOM 2
- Chapter 6 introduces you to the very popular MBTI personality instrument. Go to http://www.personalitypathways.com/type_inventory.html Read more about the MBTI and do the sample test to approximate your own style. Tell us what style you came out, what this means, and whether or not you agree with it.
After taking the MBTI personality instrument my results are ISTJ or Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging. The book does explain that 14% of people are ISTJ and their favored career are Scientist and Engineer (Hughes et al., 2022, 194). What these letters mean according to Hughes et al. introverted also known as introversion is about a leader who can work effectively with a few people at a time and thinks thoroughly before making a final decision (2022, p.192). Sensing leaders is about details and facts as well as being practical, orderly, and down to earth (2022, p.192). Thinking according to Hughes et al. is a leader who like to analyze and pays attention to details to operational (2022, p.192). Lastly, Judging is leaders are more organized, decisive, and is more comfortable in making decisions they like agendas and make as many decisions as possible through the meeting (Hughes et al., 2022, 193).
In my honest opinion, I do not completely agree with the results. The reason being the website explanation or samples of certain personality types was not as informative or detailed as what the textbook explained. Especially when the book states the favored career is a Scientist and Engineer versus an Entertainer and Musician. I am honestly in between personalities versus just one type that is more dominate trait. For example, I am an introvert/extrovert who is an ambivert. An ambivert is a person who is has both qualities of an introvert and extrovert and will change the personality based upon mood, context, and goals (Edwards, 2021). I am also between sensing/intuition and thinking/feeling because based upon the situation, mood, context, and goal. I would want to take this test again, but I need more questions that are detailed and with examples. I just do not think this online test justify my true personality like I know it to be.
- Go to the following link and take the Emotional Intelligence (EI) test associated with EI author Daniel Goleman. Discuss your results. https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/ei-quiz.htm(Links to an external site.)
When taking Daniel Goleman Emotional Intelligence Test, I received a score of 56. Scoring a 56 means according to the Mind Tools website that someone who scores between a 56-75 is “emotionally intelligent people often have great leadership potential” (How emotionally intelligent are you? Boosting your people skills, 2022). Also, when someone scores this high, they have a strong self-awareness about their emotions, self-confidence, and self-assessment (Hughes et al., 2022, p.220).
I do find these results to be more accurate than the MBTI. I am very aware of my emotions and how I handle them. I am also aware when I am overacting or being too sensitive. If I am unsure about my emotions and how I react or handle them, I do go to someone I trust to ask their honest opinion. So, I can learn from my mistakes.
- How would you describe your own leadership style according to The Leadership Grid? What evidence can you give for choosing this style as the best representation of your leadership behavior?
From the Leadership Grid my leadership style would be Middle-of-the-Road-Management. A Middle-of-the-Management is a person who is adequate organization performance by balance between to get the work finished and maintaining a morale of people in a satisfactory level (Hughes et al,. 2022, p. 253). The reason why I selected this leadership style because I had my co-workers and boss selected which type, they thought of leader I was. As well as I am a leader that is organized and detailed oriented. I want to make sure that my department is doing their task properly and if anyone does not understand what they are doing, I find ways to help them. People would also say that I go above and beyond to help my employees whenever they are in need. Even when my co-workers feel that they do not deserve it. I am not a people pleaser but I do not like to see people struggle and I know I can give them the resources to help them. However, I do not let people mistake my kindness for weakness or let them take advantage of me because I am highly self-aware when someone is scamming me.
